• Mourinho refuses to bring his past finals into conversation
• He promises entertainment, but in a special way
• Michael Carrick will not be in the squad following retirement
Jose Mourinho, known for being a cup specialist, will play another final on Saturday against Chelsea to contest the FA Cup. The Portuguese has only won one FA Cup trophyover his career though - with Chelsea in season 2006-07. But to Mourinho, history is not everything there is. He prefers to talk about the now. On the contrary, Antonio Conte is yet to claim his first ever domestic cup.
Jose Mourinho said at his press conference of the upcoming game: "I think the winning mentality doesn't have a lot to do with a history in finals, what we did in the past has nothing to do with tomorrow. It's 11 versus 11 and everyone trying to give their best."
He has also warned that people should not be expecting an all-out-attack approach from his team on Sunday: "I still don't understand this word of entertaining, do you think 6-0 is entertaining? I don't.'' However, 'entertainment is expected, as per Jose: ''I think entertaining is an emotional match with both teams fighting for a result. I think it will be an entertaining game.''
Finally, Mourinho spoke of his team's availability for the clash as he insists Romelu Lukaku's situation remains unclear despite the Belgian travelling with the squad: "[Anthony] Martial is fit and [with] Lukaku, we have to wait until the last minute, I don't want to lie to you."
One player, however, is surely ruled out. Mourinho curtly replied with a 'no' to the prospect of the team captain Michael Carrick featuring once again in the red shirt after his farewell game against Watford last weekend, in which he excelled. However, it's hardly a loss as Carrick, despite wearing the armband, has only played 379 minutes this term and is now poised to become a member of Mourinho's staff.
Will you take a scrappy 1-0 win?
